春の訪れと共に、今年のMSTERIO SUMMER CAMPもそろそろ募集解禁シーズンがやってまいります。

2024年 MSTERIO SUMMER CAMPは、8月1日から9日。場所は群馬みなかみまち、さるしょうにて。

３月いっぱいは、　初参加にご興味のあるご家族を対象としたZOOM対面オリエンテーションを随時行っております。この会には必ず親御さんとお子様とご出席いただくようお願いいたします。

With the arrival of spring, it is almost time to open the application season for this year's MSTERIO SUMMER CAMP.

The 2024 MSTERIO SUMMER CAMP will be August 1-9 at Sarusho, Minakami-machi, Gunma-Pref.

Throughout March, we will hold ZOOM in-person orientations for families interested in participating for the first time. Please be sure to attend this meeting with your child(ren) and parent(s).

キャンプ中のプログラムについて
Programs in the Camp

• プログラム（選択制クラス）： Electives
  子どもたちの責任感・独立心・決断力・想像力を養う選択式のカリキュラム/ 
  Creating Independence / Decision-Making ability / Developing Responsibility 

  • 自然体験、個人スポーツ（テニス、水泳）や団体競技（ベースボール、サッカーなど）、ダンス、アート、音楽、料理、語学、演劇など、数多くのプログラムの中から興味のあるものを自分で選ぶことができます。

  • 普段の学校や家庭の生活では、「決められたスケジュールをこなす」というのが一般的な中、ミステリオでは「自分で選択する」という機会を通じて、その自主性と、決めた瞬間から自分なりに責任感を持つことを体験していただきたいため、プログラムを選択制としています。
    These characteristics are reinforced for each camper by MSTERIO’s unique offer, allowing the individual to choose his/her own itinerary from the activity selections. Each day we offer outdoor sports (swimming, tennis, soccer, baseball) and indoor activities (dance, art&crafts, cooking/baking, language, drama, music and others), with excellent supervision. In normal school and home life, a pre-determined schedule is common. However at MSTERIO, we want the campers to experience personal responsibility and independence through the chance to “Make my own choice.” Thus the program is choice driven.

• グループプロジェクト： Group Project:

  • みんなでひとつのものをやり遂げるチームワークのすばらしさを経験していただくため、スペシャル・プロジェクトを用意しています。ミステリオでは、やがて社会に出たときに、自主性、責任感、そしてチームワークのバランスが大切と考えています。
    In order for everyone to have the great experience of accomplishing something together with teamwork, we will offer group projects. At MSTERIO we think that a balance between independence, responsibility and teamwork is important when one finally enters society.

• 最終日のお別れ会： Final Presentation – Last day of camp:

  • 最終日には子どもたちがキャンプ中に制作した数々の作品を飾ります。また、スペシャル・プロジェクトの成果の発表もいたします。一週間で仕上げるのは不可能だと、正直なところ思われるのではないでしょうか。しかし、できるのです。気持ちが一つになれば何でもできるというのはこのこと。キャンパーの見事な集中力に、大人たちは毎年びっくりさせられます。
    We will display the campers’ arts and crafts work and also to perform unique presentation that the campers create in teams. You probably think that this is impossible to accomplish in a week, but we can do it. If everyone puts their hearts into it anything is possible and every year the adults are surprised by their superb efforts.

• スペシャルゲストとスペシャルイベント Special Events in the evening

  • 各業界で活躍中の方や情熱を持って何かに取り組まれている方、日本の伝統芸の伝承者、またユニークな職業についている人にゲストとしてお話しをしていただきます。そして、子どもたちに「こんなにいろいろな生き方があるのだ」ということを感じてほしいと願っています。日替わりでスペシャルゲストを招くなど、毎晩異なるスペシャルイベントを行います。ゲスト内容は当日のお楽しみ！ また、大人のスタッフによるタレントショーも楽しい恒例イベントです。忙しい時間の合間をぬってスタッフが密かに練習を重ね、子どもたちの前でパフォーマンスをします。もちろんそれを審査するのはキャンパーです。このほか、思い出に残るキャンプファイアーも行います。
    We will invite guest speakers to speak about their professions. The guest speaker may be someone who is passionate about his or her profession, someone who is performing a Japanese traditional art, or someone involved in a unique profession. We hope the children will realize that they will have many ways to make a living in the future. By inviting a different guest every day, every night’s special event will be different. The campers will eagerly await that day’s event content!
    Also, we will have the adult staff put on a perennial talent show. The staff will find time in their busy schedules to practice in secret and put on a performance for the children. Of course the campers will evaluate the performance. Also there will be a memorable campfire.

• キャンプの具体的なスケジュール・プログラムは  事前オリエンテーションでお知らせいたします。We will announce the final schedule and programs on the day of orientation.

キャンプ中の生活について
Daily Camp Life

• キャビンのグループの分け方： Cabins:

  • 日本のキャンプでは、同じ年齢のキャンパーを一緒のグループに割り当てることが多いようですが、ミステリオでは、年少のキャンパー(JC)と年長のキャンパー(SC&CIT)を男女別に、できるだけ均等におり交ぜたグループ分けを行います。各キャビンにはカウンセラーがつき、キャンパーたちと一緒に宿泊します。また、スタッフたちも同じ場所に寝泊まりします。
    Cabins will be single sex, with mixed-age groupings. We maintain a ratio of 1 counselor to 6-8 campers throughout the day including night time.

• ミステリオコインついて：MSTERIO Coins: 

  • キャンプ期間中、“Make a Difference（自主的に何かをよりよくかえる）”を実行したキャビンやキャンパーに対してミステリオコインがプレゼントされます。コインは、それぞれが何かに一生懸命頑張った時、お互いに協力、尊敬し合えた瞬間、キャンプの決まりごとの遵守、団体競技での活躍など、さまざまな場面でプレゼントされます。またキャンパーやスタッフ同士でコインをあげたりもらったりすることもあります。
    During the MSTERIO, each cabin or camper will be awarded MSTERIO coins for his/her special actions/behavior which embodies “Make a Difference”. Coins are given out in various instances, such as when a cabin acts as a team, or when they try very hard, or when they respect each other, or when they follow camp rules, or at group competitions. Campers or staff members can also give coins to and receive coins from each other.

• ベッドタイムストーリー： Bed Time Story:

  • 就寝前は、スタッフがキャンパーたちにキャビンで大好きな絵本を読む時間です。日本語や英語だけでなく、その他の言語での読み聞かせもあります。その言語がわからなくても、キャンパーやスタッフたちが丁寧に日本語に訳してくれます。一日の最後にあるこの時間が一番お気に入りというキャンパーもいるほど人気のプログラム。
    Before bedtime is when the staff read picture books to the children. The languages will vary. Japanese, English or something else, and sometimes when an American reads an English story, there will be a camper translating into Japanese. This program is so popular that it’s the favorite activity for some campers.

• 食事について： Meals: 

  • シンプルかつ栄養バランスを考慮して献立を考えます。アメリカではバーベキューが夏の一番の人気メニュー。ミステリオでは毎年アメリカ式バーベキューは必ず取り入れ、大人気のメニューの１つ。

  • 食物アレルギーなどで食べられないものに関しては、事前にお送りする『健康チェックシート』に詳しくご記入いただきます。その資料は専任ナース（看護師）とデイレクターが事前に目を通します。ただし、単に嫌いで食べられないという場合には、キャンプ期間中できるだけ嫌いなものもチャレンジし食事を楽しめるよう、スタッフたちで励まし合います子どもたちは、朝食・ディナーのテーブルセッティングや片付けはもちろん、当番制で食事準備も行います。（安全上、必ず大人のスタッフがつきます。）
    Meals are simple and nutritionally well balanced. In America the favorite menu item in summer is barbeque (BBQ). At MSTERIO we will of course have the very popular BBQ. Please use the enclosed health conditions and contact sheet to inform us of any food allergies or foods that your child will not eat in advance. The full time nurse will look at the documents. However in regards to picky eating, our staff will encourage campers to try to eat what they don’t like during their stay. Also, the children will be responsible for setting the tables and cleaning up for lunch and dinner. They will also take turns at preparing meals. (For safety reasons, there will always be an adult supervisor)

• 入浴・シャワーについて： Taking a shower:

  • 午前中に自然の中で思い切り動いたあとは、男女別のシャワーやお風呂に交代で入り、汗を流してリフレッシュします。もちろん自由時間や夜寝る前もシャワーやお風呂で汗を流すことができます。
    After running around outside in the morning, everyone will take turn going into the showers/bath in order to freshen up and wash the sweat away. Campers may also take a shower/bath during their free time as well as before going to bed.

• 静かな時間：Quiet Time: 

  • キャンプ期間中の午前は、基本的にスポーツを行います。夏の暑い時期、外で元気いっぱい遊んだ後は、かなり体が疲れます。そのため、ランチタイム後の１時間、心身休息のためにこの「静かな時間」を設けています。この時間帯は、本を読んだり、手紙を書いたり、音楽を聴いたり、お昼寝をしたりと、各自が好きなように休息をとります。一日の中で、あえて何もせずゆっくり過ごす時間があるからこそ、気持ちの切り替えもでき、新たな元気が湧いてきます。
    During the camp term mornings are basically for sports. After playing hard in the summer heat, the body tends to get fatigued. Thus we’ve set aside one to one hour after lunch for “quiet time” to refresh the mind and body. This time will be for book reading, letter writing, listening to music, napping, or any other restful activities. This easy-going time with nothing planned will help to refresh the spirit, and gain renewed energy.

• みどりライブラリー：Midori Library: 

  • キャンプ中に常設するMidori Libraryには、世界的なバイオリニストの五嶋みどりさんが、ミステリオのキャンパーたちのために自ら選んでくださった本を所蔵しています。静かな時間などに自由に利用でき、キャンプ中の生活に安らぎを与えてくれます。
    MSTERIO offers a wide collection of books specially selected for our campers by famous violinist, Midori Goto.

何が“インターナショナル”？ 
Why it's called ‘INTERNATIONAL’ Summer Camp

• 国際色豊かな参加者たち：Bilingual, Bicultural Participants: 

  • ミステリオは国籍や人種を問わずキャンパーを受け入れており、これまでに、アメリカ、日本のほか、中国、ヨーロッパからのキャンパーも参加しています。世界で活動する国際的なアクティビティ・ディレクターのほか、スタッフやカウンセラーも各国から集まります。日本からのスタッフは海外経験豊かな人材ばかりです。
    MSTERIO accepts all campers regardless of nationality or race. In addition to American and Japanese campers, we had had campers from China. Also, we have a very cosmopolitan activity director who works both in the US and Europe, as well as counselors and kitchen staff from both the US and Japan. Our participating Japanese staff only consists of people who have had substantial overseas experience.

• ワンポイントレッスンについて：One-Point Language Lessons: 

  • 毎朝食やランチ時にはネイティブスピーカーによるワンポイント・イングリッシュ・レッスンや他の外国語のレッスンが行われます。キャンパーは毎日新しい外国語のフレーズに触れて、ネイティブスピーカーのスタッフと会話を楽しむことができます。
    Native speakers of English or other languages among our staff will give campers a one-point Foreign Language lesson from time to time. Campers will learn useful English phrases every day to communicate with our English-speaking staff members.

• その他：Others: 

  • キャンプでは“インターナショナル”なポイントとして、次のことを取り入れています。

    • 期間中は、英語と日本語の両方を使います。

    • 個人の意志を尊重する選択性クラスを設けています。

    • 年齢、性別、国籍の違いを超え、全員がファーストネームで呼び合います。

    • 欧米で一般的なメンターシステムを導入しています。

    • 子どもも大人も楽しめる、様々なイベント、アメリカ式バーベキューやサプライズイベントが毎日繰り広げられます。

    • キャンプ内容に関し、日米の教育専門家の意見を取り入れています。

  • また、インターナショナルな視野を持つためには、異文化に触れるだけでなく、自国の文化を知ることも大切です。ミステリオでは期間中、日本の伝統・文化を学ぶ機会も設けます。

  • In order to promote the international theme, we will engage in the following:

    • You will here Japanese and English all the time.

    • Hold optional classes that respect individual volition.

    • Irrespective of age, sex or nationality, everyone will be on a first name basis.

    • We will introduce a “Mentor system”.

    • Hold an American style BBQ, and other fun and surprise events for the kids and adults.

    • Consulted with specialists in the field of education in Japan and the US in regards to the camp content.

  • Also, in order to have an international outlook, you not only have to touch upon other cultures, but knowing your own culture is also important. So during MSTERIO there will be an opportunity to learn Japanese traditions and culture.

• キャンパーの英語の使用について： Regarding the use of English by campers

  • 「子どもは英語がまったくできませんが、参加しても大丈夫でしょうか？」という心配を多くの保護者の方がお持ちのようです。これについてはまったく心配はありません。スタッフは海外経験豊かなバイリンガルがほとんどですし、外国人ディレクターの場合、他のスタッフが必ず通訳として入ります。参加するキャンパーの中には、英語のほうが得意なお子さまもいらっしゃいますので、子どもたち同士助け合う姿も多く見受けられます。言葉は単にツール（道具）ですから、英語ができなくても「話してみたい」という気持ちがあれば必ず相手に思いは伝わります。単語の数をたくさん覚えることよりも、伝えようとする思いが大切だと思います。
    Many parents/guardians raise us a concern “My child doesn’t speak English at all, is it ok for them to participate?” There’s absolutely no worry regarding this. Most of the staff members are bilinguals with much overseas experience, and in the case of an English speaking director, translation will be provided. Some children speak native English, and we often see the children helping each other. Languages are simply a tool. We would like campers to experience that if you have a wish to speak, there will be a way to communicate. It is more important to try to communicate rather than try to remember many words.

キャンプ中の健康・安全について --  Health and Safety

• 24時間医療体制：24 Hour Nursing Staff

  • キャンプ期間中はナース（看護師）の資格を持つスタッフが随時待機し、急病やけがに備えます。かすり傷などの簡単な処置はナースが行い、ナースが対応しきれない場合や緊急を要する場合には、キャンプ場から車で至近の病院へ搬送します。 There is a nurse on staff 24 hours, and the nurse is always ready for first aid during the camp. In case of emergency, your child will be transferred the nearest hospital.

• 緊急事態の対策： Medical Emergencies:

  • 緊急の怪我や病気が発生した場合、まずナースが対応します。診療所へ連れていくかどうかの判断は、ナース及び主要スタッフが行います。緊急の場合は、その時点で事前にいただいた緊急連絡先にご連絡いたします。病院への車はこちらで用意し、必ずスタッフが同行いたします。風邪や熱など、1日～2日安静にしていれば治るという症状の場合にも、こちらからご報告いたします。また総合病院へ出向いた際、健康保険でカバーしきれない治療費につきましては、キャンプ終了時にご請求させていただきます。

  • If a medical emergency arises, we will consult with our nurse immediately. If a hospital visit is required, we will notify you immediately. In such a case our Director, Camp Mom or/and Dad will accompany your child to the emergency room, so that there are at least 2 staff members in the car. When your child is sick or has fever but no emergency treatment is required, we would also contact you to update on your child. Any additional fees incurred in connection with a hospital visit will be your responsibility and we will send an invoice to you at the end of the camp session.

• 保険について：Insurance Information: 

  • 期間中は、ミステリオとして、プログラムの内容に則した短期国内旅行保険に入会いたします（東京海上火災保険）。
    For the camp session, MSTERIO will belong to a group insurance plan, which includes domestic group travel insurance. 

• やむを得ない事態： Unforeseen Circumstances:

  • 体力的や精神的な理由により途中でキャンプ続行が不可能と判断された場合は、ミステリオから保護者に連絡しお迎えに来ていただきます。
    If your child needs to go home, for legitimate physical or psychological reasons, we will notify you immediately, and ask you to pick up your child.

• キャンプ前の健康診断、服用中薬の連絡：Prior Medical Check and Prescriptions: 

  • キャンプ開催前には、健康診断が必要です。事前にお送りするパッケージの中の『主治医診断書』を参照ください。この用紙に、かかりつけのお医者さまから健康診断を受け、サインを頂いてください。また、服用中の薬がある場合も、パッケージの『薬連絡表』に、服用している薬の名前、服用時間等の詳細を記載の上ご提出ください。いただいた情報と薬はまとめてナースに渡し、期間中はナースが把握した上で、キャンパーはナースルームに行き薬を服用していただきます。
    Before the camp starts, a medical check is required. Please look at the “Physician medical check sheet” that was included with the application package. Please have your physician fill this out and return the completed form to us. Also, if your child is taking any medication, please fill out the “medicine contact sheet (prescription info sheet)” with the name of the medicine, and the time of day to be taken and return it to us. We will share it with the nurse, and during the camp stay the nurse will check to see that the medication is taken every day.

• 精神面のケア：Psychological care: 

  • 「メンバー構成と役割分担」で説明のとおり、メンター及びキャンプマザー、キャンプファザーがキャンパーの精神状態について常に気を配ります。2001年のスタート以来、体調不良での帰宅は除き、子どもがキャンプに馴染めずに途中で帰ったというケースは一度もありません。初めて参加されるお子さまは、特に不安なことも多いと思います。ミステリオのスタッフはホームシックにうまく対応できるよう全員が協力しあい、子どもと一緒に乗り超える体制で臨みます。 
    As explained in section on Member structure and roles, there will be a Camp Mom & Camp Dad to look after the psychological needs of the children. From inception in 2001, except in the cases of illness, there hasn’t been a single case where any camper has returned home because they weren’t accustomed to camp. However, particularly for first time participants, there will be misgivings. The MSTERIO staff will cooperate to deal with homesickness, and will see to it that the children overcome this hurdle. 

• キャンプ開催中のスタッフの見分け方： Identifying MSTERIO Staff:

  • キャンプが始まる前に、ご家族からお子さんに以下のことをよく説明してください。子どもたちは、カウンセラーやスタッフと一緒に行動することが原則です。知らない大人には絶対についていかないよう、事前に説明してください。
    As several organizations share our campsite, please be sure that your child understands that he or she must always be with MSTERIO staff member. Please tell your child(ren) not to follow any strangers.

キャンプ中の連絡体制について 
How to reach us during camp

• 緊急時ホットライン：Emergency Hotline: 

  • キャンプ期間中は原則として個人的な連絡はお受けできません。緊急事態により至急連絡を必要とする場合には、朝8:00～夜21:00の間は さる小の代表電話（0278-25-3349）、それ以外の時間はキャンプデイレクターの携帯電話までご連絡ください。
    As a rule, during the camp period, we do not accept a personal call to your child. If there is an immediate need to contact your child due to an emergency situation, please call the Saru-Sho （0278-25-3349) from 8:00AM-9:00PM. For late nights or early morning please call Nozomi Terao’s cell phone number. For non emergency matters, please call or fax at Saru-Sho as we seldom check emails during camp period. (Fax: 0278-25-3449)

• キャンパーからの連絡： Ways for Campers to Reach Parents:

  • 親元を離れて生活することに慣れていない初参加のキャンパーは、特にご家族の声を聞きたくなってしまうかもしれません。ミステリオではどうしても必要だと判断した場合以外は、キャンパーからの連絡はできません。期間中には、ご自宅宛てにキャンパーから手紙を書く時間も設けていますので、元気な便りを楽しみにお待ちください。また、ミステリオ中の携帯電話の使用は禁止です。持参される場合は初日にまとめてお預かりし、デイレクターが保管します。最終日にお子さまに返却いたします。

  • We do not encourage campers to contact their parents, unless there is an emergency. However, we will have campers write a postcard and send it to you as one of our activities. Please look forward to the joyful letters from your child. Cell phone use during the camp period is prohibited. We collect all the cell phones on the first day and return them to your child on the last day.

• ミステリオブログからのキャンプリポート： Camp Newsletter:

  • 毎日の楽しい出来事やキャンプの様子は、ミステリオHP内のブログをアップデートしていきます。 時折、前日のスケジュールが立て込み、アップデートが遅れることもありますのであらかじめご了承ください。
    During camp, we will post a daily news on our blog at www.msterio.jp. Please try to visit us. We would appreciate your understanding that there may be a delay on updating the blog due to the busy schedule.

• 宅配便について：FedEx Service: 

  • １週間分のキャンパーの荷物は重くかさばるため、ご希望される方は宅配便をご利用ください（費用は参加者負担）。送付状に「ミステリオ」と大きく記入し、『前日の14:00以降着』で手配してください。小さくても構いませんのでバックパックなど最低１つは身の回りの必要な荷物を入れて持ってくるようにしてください。お帰りも宅急便のご利用を希望される場合には、記入済の着払いの送付状をお子様の荷物に含めて下さい。
    You may send your child’s luggage to the campsite in advance. Please arrange for all luggages to arrive after 2:00pm the day before MSERIO begins, and to be marked as MSTERIO in large letters. If you prefer the same arrangement on the way back, please also pack a completed Cash on Delivery slip in your child’s luggage.

キャンプのメンバー構成とその役割
Member structure and roles

• キャンパー： Camper:

  • ミステリオキャンプに参加する子どもたち 全員 のことです。ただし、年代や役割を区別するために、ジュニア（小学生）、シニア（中学生）、カウンセラー・イン・トレーニング（高校生）とわけて呼ぶことがあります。
    This refers to e very child who participates in MSTERIO. In order to differentiate by age and roles, we may use the terms Junior, (elementary school student) Senior, (middle school student) and Counselor in Training (high school student)

• ジュニアキャンパー(JC)： Junior Camper (JC):

  • 小学１年生～6年生までのキャンパーのことです。シニアキャンパーの助けを得ながら、家でも学校でもない環境にチャレンジします。
    This refers to 1 st to 6 th grade campers. With the help of senior campers, they will experience challenges outside of the school or home environment.

•  シニアキャンパー(SC)： Senior Camper (SC):

  • 中学１年生～３年生のキャンパーのことです。各キャビン（宿泊のグループ）に１～２人のシニアキャンパーが入り、お姉さん・お兄さん役として活躍していただきます。
    This refers to campers who are middle school students in grades 7 th to 9 th . In each cabin there will be 1 to 2 senior campers who will act as big brothers or big sisters.

• カウンセラー・イン・トレ−ニング（CIT）： Counselor In Training (CIT):

  • 高校１年生～３年生のキャンパーのこと。シニアキャンパーと同じく、１～２人のCITが各キャンビンに入り、カウンセラーのアシスタントとしてキャンパーの面倒を見ます。これは、卒業後にカウンセラーになるための練習でもあり、社会経験の練習でもあります。
    CITs are of high school ages and assisting counselors. There will be one to two Counselor in Training (CIT) assigned to each cabin. After graduating as a camper, you have the choice of applying for a counselor. Therefore, by the time you have graduated from high school, you may then be eligible to work at the camp. This gives you the possibility of having one of your first job experiences with a community that is familiar to you and your family.

• カウンセラー（キャンプリーダー）： Counselor (Camp Leader):

  • 各カウンセラーは、それぞれ１つのグループを担当します。カウンセラーはキャンパーと一緒に寝泊まりし、随時面倒を見ます。
    Each of our individual counselors has specific areas of expertise and shares responsibility for large group activities. All counselors report to the Director.

• アクティビティ・ディレクター (AD)： Activity Directors (AD):

  • キャンプ中の選択制クラス（後述）では、各分野で活躍中のプロフェッショナルで熱意あるメンバーが講師をつとめます。プロの知識・スキルを教えながらも、子どもたちと同じ目線で一緒に楽しみます。
    In each chosen class (explained below) within the camp, we employ enthusiastic professionals from each field. While instructing the children in professional skills and knowledge, they will enjoy the experience on the same level as the children.

• キャンプマザー、ファーザー： Camp Mom&DAD:

  • 子どもの扱いがベテランで、キャンプ経験の豊富なキャンプファーザーが常にキャンパーの様子をモニターします。特にキャンパーがホームシックにかかった時などは、カウンセラーとの連絡を密にとりながら主に精神面をケアします。なお、キャンプグランマは日本語で、キャンプファーザーは英語で、キャンプマザーは日英両方で対応いたします。
    These older adults who have a great deal of life experience and are veterans in handling children, will watch over children’s emotional and psychological needs, and will offer special support for homesickness and similar matters. Camp Grandma will communicate in Japanese, while Camp Dad will engage in English. Camp Mother will communicate in both Japanese and English.

• その他のスタッフ： Other Staff Members:

  • 上記で紹介したスタッフのほか、キッチンスタッフ、専任ナース（看護師）、映像スタッフ、また、ADのアシスタントをはじめ、なんでもこなすジェネラルスタッフたちがキャンプをサポートし、ディレクターが全体を取りまとめます。
    In addition to the staff listed above, we also have kitchen staff, a full time nurse, video staff, and helpers who will assist activity directors and support the camp in any way possible, while the director will oversee everything.

• メンターシステム： Mentor System:

  • カウンセラー以外の各キャンプスタッフはメンターとなり、２～３人のキャンパーを担当します。メンターシステムとは、欧米の学校、会社などでは幅広く活用されているシステムです。どんな１日を過ごしたかという報告や、相談ごとなどを聞く大人のことで、子どもたちは、学校や家庭以外では出会わない大人と新しい関係を築きます。メンターとしての大人の役割は、キャンパーのことを理解し、問題のあるなしに関わらず健全な友情作りを目指します。キャンプが終わった後も、期間中に生まれた関係を何らかの形で継続することを願っています。
    We have adopted a mentor system, based on an American concept now widely incorporated into schools, summer camps and work places. Each camper will have a mentor, someone to look up to and respect, with whom he or she can build a special friendship. This relationship will be different from those your child establishes with counselor and other adults at MSTERIO. The mentor is someone your child may talk with at any time - any place, for guidance, support, comfort or a bit of fun.

• スタッフの選考とトレーニング： Staff Selection and Training:

  • スタッフの選考は、ADを含め信頼できる方からご紹介いただき採用しています。その場合でも、事前面接をしてミステリオのことを理解されている方を厳選し、スタッフとしての参加を依頼しています。また、スタッフとカウンセラーには、事前に独自のトレーニングを実施しています。ミステリオの考え方や方針についてディレクターから説明を受けるとともに、緊急時にも落ち着いて対応できるようにトレーニングします。
    Staff members, including activity directors are hired from a pool of candidates introduced to us by people we trust. Even so, we interview beforehand and carefully select those who understand MSTERIO and who can participate as staff members. MSTERIO offers several hours of special staff training so that they can behave properly during the camp as well as in case of emergency.

• スタッフ間のコミュニケーション： Staff Communication:

  • スタッフのミーティングは頻繁に行われます。基本的にカウンセラー、AD、スタッフ全員が出席します。ミーティング中はミーティングに参加しないスタッフがキャンパーに付き添います。
    We will have a staff meeting frequently. During staff meetings, there will always be someone present with the campers, so that at no point will your child be left alone.
